Title IX: Sexual Harassment & Discrimination

Bonneville Joint  School  District  is  committed  to creating  and  maintaining  a learning and working environment that is free from unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap in its educational programs, services or activities. Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that protects people from discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment, in education programs or activities that receive federal funding. Title IX states, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

Title IX protects against sexual harassment, inequity in programming, including athletics, and pregnancy discrimination.

Under Bonneville School District's Title IX policy, sexual harassment is defined as any conduct on the basis of sex that meets one or more of the following definitions:

  • An employee offering benefits to an individual in return for sexual conduct,
  • Unwelcome conduct that is so severe, pervasive, and patently offensive that it effectively denies a person equal  access  to the District's education  program  or activity;
  • Sexual  assault,  dating  violence,  domestic  violence  or  stalking  as defined in  the District's Title IX policy.

Any student, employee, or other individual who has reason to believe that someone may be a victim of any of this type of conduct should immediately report their concerns to the Title IX Coordinator or a responsible employee of the District.

Reports may be made to the Title IX Coordinator by going to www.d93.org/GetHelp or sending an email to TitleIX@d93mail.com.
